Tartaric Sulfuric Acid (TSA) anodizing is a chromium-free, environmentally friendly alternative to chromic acid anodizing developed by Airbus. The process complies with REACH regulations. When applied to aluminum products, this method produces a thin oxide layer with excellent adhesion for subsequent paint systems and good corrosion resistance. As with other anodizing processes, aluminum is converted into aluminum oxide to ensure optimal adhesion of an additional paint system. TSA anodizing is ideal when sulfuric acid anodizing is not suitable due to its impact on fatigue strength.
The TSA process creates a coating with fine pores that are usually not sealed, as TSA is often used as a pre-treatment for further paint application.
Advantages of TSA anodizing:
The TSA process is particularly suitable for aerospace components, especially Airbus-related products.
Standard specifications complied with:
AIPS 02-01-003, MIL-PRF-8625 Type IC, and 80-T-35-2010
This process is certified by NADCAP and various OEMs.
