Chromic acid anodizing

Ultimate protection for aerospace products

Chromic acid anodizing produces a thin oxide layer with excellent corrosion resistance. During this process, aluminum is converted into aluminum oxide, providing optimal protection and adhesion for any subsequent paint systems. We use this technique when corrosion resistance is critical and sulfuric acid anodizing is not suitable, for example, on products in the aerospace industry.

The process creates a layer with fine pores that are usually sealed, enhancing corrosion protection.

Advantages of chromic acid anodizing:

  • Minimal impact on fatigue strength
  • Any residual chromic acid does not affect the base material, which is crucial for assembled products, such as in aerospace
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Ideal adhesion for paints
  • Thin coating (2–7 µm), resulting in virtually no effect on dimensional tolerances

Chromic acid anodizing is essential for products in industries such as aviation and aerospace.

Standard specifications complied with:
MIL-PRF-8625 Type I & IB and AMS-2470

This process is certified by NADCAP and various OEMs.
